Hello,
My name is Erin and I currently live just outside of Asheville in North Carolina. I moved here with my boyfriend this past Summer. I was born in Boulder, Colorado, and went to CU Boulder for a BA in Psychology. I graduated from there in 2007 and found myself waitressing and bartending for several years after that. In 2010 I decided to follow my heart to become a secondary teacher, and went back to school for a BA in History and teaching licensure at Metropolitan State University of Denver. The past few school years I worked at a high school on the beautiful western slope mountains of Colorado as a social studies teacher. I am taking a break this school year and working as a substitute teacher here in North Carolina, but I hope to return to a full contract teaching position asap. I am also pregnant with my first child and expecting the baby this Summer. My boyfriend and I are looking to purchase our first home as soon as we find something within our budget (but hopefully before the baby is born!) as we are currently renting the upstairs of another couple's home. This is a time of transitions and new beginnings for me and I look forward to using this time to reflect upon my pedagogy and the institution of public education as a whole. I take a hopeful approach and really like the human-centered optimism that Design Thinking has to offer the current challenges and transitions in education.
